Olivo Ryde closed for refurbishment as liquidators called in

Olivo in Ryde has closed its doors for refurbishment today (Wednesday) at the same time that it confirmed that liquidators have been called in to take control of the company.  A notice in The Gazette states that there is an intention to bring in McTear Williams & Wood Limited as liquidators of the management company, Olivo (Ryde) Limited.  Speaking to Island Echo McTear Williams & Wood have confirmed that they are indeed dealing with the liquidation of the company, as well as the liquidation of the sister company Olivio (Newport) Limited.

The liquidators were appointed voluntarily to Olivo (Newport) Limited - whose restaurant at St Thomas' Square closed several months ago - on 8 July.  Furniture has been seen being moved from Olivo in Union Street, Ryde today and a notice has been placed in the window stating the restaurant is closed for refurbishment.  Olivo have also announced the refurbishment on their Facebook page.  A member of the team at Olivo Ryde told Island Echo that the intention is for the restaurant to re-open under new management - with different directors - next week.

UPDATE Thursday: A spokesman has today commented:

"A management company has been put in place to relaunch Olivo Ryde.  This popular restaurant based in Union Street is pleased to announce a refurbishment with exciting new ideas and a long term commitment to making this restaurant a huge success.  The restaurant will be closed until early next week with a launch event planned for the reopening.  For more information please follow us on social media".
