Norwich-based Jools Holland event organiser to go into liquidation

A Norwich-based business which had organised an outdoor music concert starring Jools Holland is set to go into liquidation.

Director of EMS Promotions Limited Chirs Bailey - who had organised two concerts in Staffordshire next month - said there was no alternative but to cease trading after ticket sales for events at the Shugborough Estate were below expectations as a result of the difficult economic climate and wet weather.

It comes weeks after North Norfolk-based music promotors Baselogic Productions went in to voluntary administration after an event they were organising was shut down amid fears over crowd safety.

As well as Jools Holland, the concerts at the Shugborough Estate on August 18 and 19, which have now been cancelled, was also going to feature the National Symphony Orchestra.

Chris Williams of insolvency firm McTear Williams & Wood will be placing the company into liquidation.

More than 2,600 tickets were sold for the Jools Holland concert and 1,300 for the National Symphony Orchestra.

In a statement on the company’s website the director of EMS Promotions, Chris Bailey, said that he deeply regretted having to take the step and having to let down those people who had already purchased tickets, but he had decided that there is no alternative but to cease trading.

Adrian Sage of McTear Williams & Wood said: ‘It is always sad to see a company cease trading and go into liquidation but trading conditions are very difficult and the lack of ticket sales has left the director with no other alternative. “Notice of a meeting of creditors will be sent out in the next few days.” For more information go to www.mw-w.com.
