McTear Williams & Wood, one of the UK’s leading business rescue, insolvency and company administration firms marked its 25th anniversary with a one-of-a-kind sailing celebration on Wroxham Broad on Thursday, 10 July 2025. This exclusive event brought together clients, partners and local business leaders for a unique experience aboard seven of the last eight remaining Norfolk wherries, a sight rarely seen on the water.
Hosted at the Norfolk Broads Yacht Club, the day included a mix of heritage sailing, onshore activities, a BBQ lunch, cream tea and a champagne toast, all culminating in a surprise light aircraft fly-by with a banner thanking everyone for their support over the past 25 years.
“When we started McTear Williams & Wood in 2000, our mission was clear: help business owners in financial difficulty navigate tough times with honesty and compassion,” said Andrew McTear, one of McTear Williams & Wood’s founding partners. “To be here 25 years later, bigger and better, still doing what we love, is something we’re incredibly proud of, and we wanted to mark the occasion with over 100 of our friends and supporters without whom we could not have flourished as we have.”
The event also featured a talk from the Wherry Yacht Charter Charitable Trust, along with wherry sailing alongside professional skippers, plus informal networking onshore.
“This is more than a celebration of our firm’s anniversary,” added Andrew McTear. “It’s about honouring the people and businesses we’ve supported over the years and recognising the importance of community and continuity in what we do. Norfolk has always been part of our story; it’s only right we celebrate here with something that brings local history to life.”
The celebration follows McTear Williams & Wood’s continued expansion across the East of England and London, with offices in Cambridge, Chelmsford, Colchester, Ipswich, London, Milton Keynes, Norwich and Peterborough growing from a team of six to over seventy today. The firm has helped thousands of business owners navigate complex financial challenges with a pragmatic, personal and highly localised approach.
“Behind every insolvency case is a story, often someone trying their best to overcome financial difficulties”, said Andrew McTear. “We’re proud that our work helps people see light at the end of the tunnel and preserve jobs.”
