The Bridge Project Sudbury in liquidation after closing

Last Updated: 14/04/2025

A prominent town charity has been placed into liquidation after it closed its doors last month.

Services which were run by The Bridge Project, which had been operating in Sudbury for around 30 years, have been transferred to other providers after it shut at the end of March.

The charity has confirmed it has been placed into liquidation as of Thursday April 10 under the guidance of McTear Williams & Wood Limited.

A statement from the trustees of The Bridge Project said: “This has been an incredibly difficult time for everyone involved but the way the team, families and local supporters have rallied around has been nothing short of humbling. The compassion and dignity shown in these final weeks reflects the values at the heart of the charity.”

It has been confirmed that Sudbury Arts Centre, based at St Peter’s Church, will continue as a Community Interest Company supported by the Churches Conservation Trust.

The Bridge Project’s lunch deliveries are now being run by Aspect Living, whilst Suffolk County Council has helped ensure ongoing support has been secured for students.

Create – Paint Your Own Pottery in Borehamgate will close before reopening to the public with a similar offering.

Members of the charity’s senior leadership team added: “Our focus in recent months has been on protecting the people we support and ensuring services continue where possible. We’re grateful to the organisation who stepped in to take these forward and to every member of staff who went above and beyond.”

The trustees added: “We are incredibly proud of what The Bridge Project achieved over more than three decades. Though this chapter has closed the impact remains – in confidence built, friendships formed and opportunities created for those we served.”
