East Anglia's leading business rescue and insolvency specialists McTear Williams & Wood Limited have raised £2,160 for Amber’s Army at its popular 13th annual bowls tournament.

Twelve teams of professionals from across the region battled for the "McTear Williams & Wood Bowls Trophy” which was held at the Diss & District Bowls Club on Tuesday 25 April 2023.  The winning team were the “Skylarks”; Luke Gormley of Streets Whittles Chartered Accountants, Shelly Clarke of Newman & Co. Chartered Accountants and Scott Earrey of McTear Williams & Wood. The highest scoring player was Luke Gormley of Streets Whittles who had the honour of wining the trophy.

In keeping with tradition the contestants wore an array of novelty slippers ranging from puppy dogs to monster claws.

Funds raised from the event went to Amber’s Army, a Norfolk based family charity, aiming to ‘Create Rainbows in the Darkest of Days’ for Norfolk families who have a child with a terminal cancer diagnosis. The charity was established in 2023 by the parents of Amber Sheehy, Jon & Amanda, in their daughter’s memory. Amber was first diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2019, she fought like a true warrior but sadly lost her cancer battle earlier this year aged 8. Amber's Army is committed to creating memories and experiences that will last a lifetime for the WHOLE family not just the poorly child and provide emotional support.  Andrew McTear, Director of McTear Williams & Wood Limited presented the cheque to Amber’s parents Jonathan and Amanda.

Once again McTear Williams & Wood Limited extend their thanks to everyone who took part and to the Diss & District Bowls Club.
