Charity bowled over by donation

McTear Williams & Wood, East Anglia's largest business rescue and insolvency practice held their second annual charity bowls tournament at Breckland Leisure Centre on 22 April 2010.

Twelve teams of professionals from across the region battled for the "McTear Williams & Wood Bowls Challenge Trophy" and in doing so raised £2,400 in charity.  The winning team was Prettys solicitors from Ipswich who narrowly beat last years winners Leathes Prior solicitors from Norwich in a closely contested final.

Funds raised from the event have gone to "The Friends of Chapel Road School" which is a registered charity.  The school in Attleborough serves the complex needs of 63 special young people aged between 3 and 19, all of whom have severe learning disabilities.  A cheque was presented to the school's head, Karin Heap.

McTear Williams & Wood extend their thanks to everyone who took part and to the Breckland Leisure Centre.  Plans are underway to repeat the event next year.

Haiti appeal fund raiser

On Friday 29 January 2010 we held a 'wear it red and blue day' to raise much needed funds for the Haiti appeal.  A total of £439.50 was raised.  Special thanks goes to Chris Williams who kindly endured leg waxing in aid of the appeal - well done Chris - and to Andrew McTear who paid in order to avoid it!

Office reburbishment & picture hanging

On 25 November 2008, we finally concluded our Norwich office refurbishment with a ‘picture hanging’ party which over 80 guests attended.  The paintings were commissions from three students at The Norwich University College of the Arts ranging in style from an impressionist flamenco dancer to a very abstract painting of Norwich landmarks.  Richard Denyer, Business Development Manager of the University said “it was a great opportunity to work closely with a local business, good experience for the students and has helped create a more interesting office environment”.
